Space

Probably every little boy has dreamed of becoming an astronaut at some point in his life. To explore the outer space, travel through galaxies, discover traces of alien civilizations… That would be something! If some of you are still stick to this plan, you are probably also planning some theoretical preparation, or maybe you are already in the phase of intensive gathering of information about space. If not – I invite you to read on. Below you will find some intriguing facts :).

1. The word cosmos, an alternative name for the universe in Greek (κόσμος) which means 'order’, 'harmony’ or 'beauty’. Isn’t this fact enough reason to study the Universe?

2. There are more stars in the Universe than grains of sand on all the Earth’s beaches combined. However, from the perspective of Earth and in favorable weather conditions, we can see about 3-4 thousand stars with the naked eye.

3. Space debris is a challenge that humanity will have to face one day. They are objects made by humans, no longer having any useful use, and drifting in orbit around the Earth. Fragments of rockets or satellites, as well as everyday items, make up a considerable number of about half a million pieces.

4. One year in space for human bones is like 10 years on Earth. The same applies to muscles, which, as a result of the lack of gravity, weaken significantly. That is why, for example, on the International Space Station we will find gyms where astronauts can exercise to keep fit.
